Growing is not just about getting older. It is more about finding meaning & purpose in life, doing what you believe in, changing mindsets and making a difference. Seri Mengasih Centre, after 30 years of pioneering works on the special developmental needs of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Sabah, is collaborating with University Malaysia Sabah, under the auspices of the Sabah State Ministry for Social Development and Consumers Affairs, to bring the best in the world for this Conference to the beautiful nature city of Kota Kinabalu. Your involvement and participation can truly empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to face the challenges of the next 30 years and beyond, and continue to GROW WITH HOPE AND DIGNITY.

We anticipate 450 participants from the world, including self advocates, family members, policy makers, professionals, academicians and researchers in this field, and friends.

We will come together to learn about the experiences of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families throughout their lives. Our aim is to identify how we can achieve improvements in our communities by focusing on:

• The right of disabled people to make decisions for themselves
• The right to be included in the community
• The right of families to get the support they need
• The right to make a living
• The right to meaningful relationships
• The right to be born
